Care providers are increasingly using technology and digital systems to complement care, and to store and share information with colleagues across health and social care.
Digital Care Hub (formerly Digital Social Care)§
The Digital Care Hub provides free information, guidance and support to enable adult social care providers to make the most of digital technology – and to do it safely.
The Digital Care Hub is the new name for Digital Social Care (from September 2023).
The Hub is an independent consortium, led by care providers, so they understand the needs and challenges facing the diverse range of organisations in our sector. Several CPA members are involved in the consortium.
The consortium’s key roles are to
- act as the sector-led consortium supporting adult social care providers to understand and implement digital technologies safely
- represent care providers’ interests in policy, regulation, funding and tech developments
- host Better Security, Better Care – the national programme to help care providers with data and cyber security, including completing the Data Security and Protection Toolkit every year. This programme is funded by NHS England.
- act as the subject matter expert to the Government’s Digitising Social Care programme which is funded by NHS England.

Digitising Social Care§
The digitising social care website is managed by NHS England’s digitising social care programme.
The programme is funded by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and is delivered by a joint unit of DHSC and NHS England staff. It aims to transform adult social care through digital innovation, as set out in the 2021 government white paper,?People at the Heart of Care. This work is further shaped by DHSC’s ongoing commitment to support digitisation of the sector outlined in the?2023 Next Steps paper.
This is the official site for NHS England and DHSC guidance, information and advice on making the most of digital technologies. It supports adult social care providers in England on how to make the most of digital innovation to deliver better, safer care.
