Honours nominations wanted for Health and Care: Birthday 2027 list

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is looking for potential nominees from across health and adult social care to be considered for the Birthday 2027 honours list and beyond.

There are millions of people working and volunteering in the health and care sector, many of whom go above and beyond the call of duty every day. We need your help to find the most deserving cases and ensure these people are nominated.

If you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution, at any level, then DHSC would like to hear from you!

Anyone can be nominated for an honour. Status or seniority isn’t important – what matters is what the person has done and the impact they have had on people’s health or care.

Nominations for contributions are greatly welcome from across the health and adult social care sectors.

The Nominations Board is particularly interested in receiving nominations for:

  • staff across the full scope of health and adult social care
  • those who have found new and innovative ways of doing things
  • those who have constructively called for change
  • those who have used their position to champion public health, raise awareness, combat stigma and/or improve care in the NHS
  • those championing a new vision for adult social care, including people who draw on care, family carers and care workers

Anyone can nominate an individual for an honour using this form. (This nomination form is also on the Cabinet Office website.)

The deadline for completed nominations is Friday 28 August 2026.  However, nominations are accepted throughout the year and will be considered for the next available round, if received after this date.

Nominations should ideally be signed off by the Chair, President or Chief Executive of the organisation and submitted to mb-honours@dhsc.gov.uk

Importantly, under no circumstances should anyone who is nominated be made aware that they are under consideration for an honour.
