Following his appointment, the new Health and Social Care Secretary James Murray MP has written to NHS and social care staff across England.

The letter thanked staff for their work, highlighting falling waiting lists and earlier cancer diagnosis rates.

The Secretary of State also set out priorities including cutting waiting times further, delivering the 10-Year Health Plan, improving local services and introducing the first statutory Fair Pay Agreement for care workers.
